SANDY SPRINGS, GA — The event that celebrates the dining scene in Sandy Springs will move its operations to the heart of the city later this year. Food That Rocks, traditionally held at Hammond Park, will now hold its festivities at City Springs on Saturday, June 9.
Food that Rocks was created by Dale DeSena, a Sandy Springs resident, business owner and the founder of Taste of Atlanta. Sponsored by the city, the all-inclusive food, drinks and music event launched in 2016 brings together more than 20 chefs and mixologists who serve up their favorite menu items to the public.
"Food that Rocks is a celebration of Sandy Springs, bringing together our restaurateurs with those who love great food, fun and community, which makes this event a perfect fit as we begin to unveil the many opportunities for the community to gather at City Springs," said Sandy Springs Mayor Rusty Paul.
Food That Rocks is set for 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. on the City Green at City Springs. Attendees must be 21 years of age or older. Tickets are $55 in advance and $65 on the day of the event. You can purchase tickets by visiting the Food That Rocks website.
Participating restaurants include Hammocks Trading Company, il Giallo, Kaiser’s Chophouse and Under the Cork Tree. Additional participants will be announced in the coming weeks. Food that Rocks is billed as a "party with a purpose" with a donation made to local charities. Those charitable groups will be announced soon.

"Sandy Springs is my home, so there is a special connection for me," DeSena said. "In addition, as a businesswoman, the growth of interesting dining in the city is exciting, and our past success with Food that Rocks demonstrates that fact. Moving the event to City Springs gives us an opportunity to grow the event and remain one of the city’s signature happenings."
